BelmontShore (2 years ago) You're looking at a man at the top of his game.
There was NOTHING like Soul Train in the 70s. Nothing.
****
sorayacita (2 years ago) This is my absolute favourite Al Green song anyway but i have NEVER seen it performed live, not could i imagine it would be so unbelievably mind blowing and soulfully performed. It makes me almost wish I had religion and could feel what he feels. Amazing. What an incredible man. Thank you for posting.

****
Jtinnon (1 year ago) I say He should have started Preaching after this song Man! I love Al Green

****

msbutler59 (1 year ago) I forgot to mention this performance reminds me of church with the full accompanyment of instruments and the freedom of expression. THIS is the sort of music that should have the people dancing. Praise God in the dance, SHOUT unto God with the voice of triumph, praise Him with the stringed instruments, the horns, the drums and the cymbals. HALLELUJAH!!!
****
vurnt22 (1 year ago) OhmiGawd the Blend!!!! Check the tenor man's background vocal-What!? Then check the percussionist in the silver hood in the back-"I Wish the band would just..." And the drummer! The mighty Hodges Brothers on guitar and organ! The nuschool R&B and Gospel players cain't get close to this...Feeling...Awesome.

****

DaddyFatsack2k1 (1 year ago) This is incredible. Another example of how efforless his voice was. I hope that one day we will come to know the fullness of his legacy as an artist. This was the TRUE King of Stage.. find the history people.. you will be pleased that you did!

StoryNClark (1 year ago) it's odd that on Soul Train...SOUL TRAIN of all places...is where i'd hear the most soulful and relevant recitation of the Lord's Prayer i've ever known.

****

rjcspecial (1 year ago) Can someone please please tell me how to get this song, preferably this version.

****

modestosplat (1 year ago) This is off "CALL ME" which in my opinion is his best album.

****

xxoorrtt (1 year ago) You cannot speak of soul without All Green. The artists of today should have to watch this, they would see what true tallent is. Not just a bunch of jumbled lyrics and thumping bass. Keep on, keeping on Rev. Al!!!!!!

God bless you Al
****
skypaged (8 months ago) what's up with his right hand?

****

Dazzo60 (8 months ago) He fell 12 feet off a stage and broke his arm. Did not seem to effect his voice a bit lol

****

sandydidit (7 months ago) Thanks so much for posting! This is one of the best examples of the Reverend's pure hypnotic power in live performance. The way he lets the music go slow, then build, then go slow again, then build and finally, er, "climax" is peerless. Green has never been an artist to shy away from intermingling the sacred and the sexual.
****
BabyG18 (7 months ago) this song is touching I LOVE u al! u took us to church with this track
****
teakawks00 (6 months ago) i actually saw this performance on soul train in the mid-1970s. the drummer is the dynamite Mr. Howard Grimes, he was the dynamic centerstone of the Green band. Not sure whatever happened to Mr. Grimes. I'd like to know. He was so very talented.

****

grcentro (6 months ago) A little info about Howard Grimes:

****
7teenDays (1 week ago) My brother and I used to play church Sunday afternoons. This was one of our songs back then, but we never turned it out like this...Rev did it!
