Elephant Man - Too Bad Mind

"This is Elephant man in none other than his video too bad mind."

In this video Elephant Man is a preacherr who is walking down the street trecruiting men, women, and children to come to his church where he continues to "preach" to them through the words of this song.

"Too Bad Mind" is a renake of Marvia Providence's Gospel song " Hear My Cry O Lord". The video for that song can be found on jambalayah at http://www.jambalayah.com/node/269.

I first heard both of these songs on a dancehall reggae CD that my daughter got during a vacation to Jamaica. The original song "Hear My Cry O Lord" was followed by Elephant Man's "Too Bad Mind", almost as if it was a continuation of that song. Although "Hear My Cry O Lord" is clearly a religious song, I don't believe that "Too Bad Mind" is considered to be a church song.

It certainly appears that people dance to this song. But that statement reveals my American mindset, because it appears that doing social dancing to Gospel songs isn't unusual or frowmed upon in some other cultures. For example, see the video titled Hear My Cry O Lord from Maria and Eric's wedding video (traditional African clothing) (Great Britain)

****
dreminto89 (1 year ago) bumboclaat preach it
Editor: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Bumboclaat- “Quite simply, bumboclaat means toilet paper. Bumbo means bottom, claat is the Jamaican pronounciation of cloth. Very mild swear word, but in Jamaica, where swearing is a very serious thing, a few 'rebels' managed to get away with bumboclaat...and it caught on.

Used for emphasis or exclamation mainly:
Dat bumboclaat policebwoy arrest mi fi nutt'n! “
-snip-

This comment should probably not be seen as a negative statement towards the vocalist. Instead, bumboclaat is used as interjection that begins a comment praising the vocalist, or the song.]
